Our growing team of experienced teachers lead structured music sessions in nurseries, pre-schools, and Infant Schools across Oxfordshire, linked closely to the curriculum. Sessions, supported by lesson plans, can be structured for half hour, three quarter hour, and hour, depending on the needs of the group. We are always happy to discuss individual requirements and work with each setting, complimenting existing projects with a musical theme.
Like all of our group sessions, the most important thing is that children have fun with music, and the learning follows. A secure environment and stimulating activities, all designed to encourage children's social development such as confidence building, sharing and listening, and of course, musical skills.
Children will meet Digby The Drum, Tiny Tim the castanet, Bash the tambourine, and many other friends who are used to teach rhythm and pitch skills in an entertaining and visual way. As the learning develops we introduce more complex skills but still delivered in a fun way.
In addition to Digby, Tim, and Bash, and our other characters, we ensure that children will experience hands on use of our varied range of percussion instruments at every session. Where possible we use Fairtrade sourced instruments.
Children will also have the opportunity of listening to, touching and playing orchestral instruments at specified sessions.
Children will have great fun meeting Floaty The Fairy and Choppy The Karate Kid who like very different types of music. This session focuses on listening skills but in a uniquely visual way!
Children express themselves physically through music, listening to every genre of musical from classical to jazz, world to pop.
At Salt Box we use an imaginative array of musical games, largely involving singing, in order to stimulate the child's imagination and advance the learning process.
All Salt Box lessons are delivered by experienced teachers. Each lesson is planned in advance to meet the needs of the group. All lessons are documented in a lesson plan which we make available for the educational records.
By request, handouts and homework sheets can be provided. We are also happy to integrate our sessions into current project work or theme days.
